OEE - Overall Equipment Effectiveness

This application was developed by Konitech using SAP MII, that is the first tool in the market for construction of Composite Applications for manufacturing integration and intelligence. It allows a fast connection with all data sources, from the shop-floor to the corporate level, through native connectors. SAP MII was totally designed and developed to be tightly integrated with the SAP Netweaver platform, based on Webservices and XML. This services oriented architecture allows a wide integration of systems and businesses processes and a total visibility of the plant data throughout the entire organization.

The objective of this application is to make calculations and exhibit, in real time, OEE of industrial equipments, lines and even plants. OEE - Overall Equipment Effectiveness - Global Index of Effectiveness of Equipments, is a key indicator that expresses the percentile of use of the equipment in its fullness, considering the ideal situation of maximum speed, without stops, without deviations or reworks with total quality. It is the result of the product of the Availability, Quality and Performance Index. This indicator was globally introduced after the implantation of TPM–Total Productive Maintenance - in the Japanese companies.

OEE is different from the simple calculation of the Efficiency of each Production Cycle and the overall Production Efficiency. The ideal would be a given factory producing at 100% of the time, at 100% of the capacity and with 100% of good products. However, in the reality, that rarely happens. OEE is a way to measure the real assets utilization showing the differences among the ideal and the real situation in the shop-floor.

The data for OEE calculations are collected, in real time, from the shop-floor systems and can be visualized through graphs, gauges and thermometers. The transformations of these data supply the necessary information to help to improve the use of manufacturing resources, supporting the immediate correction of problems that are affecting the productivity, helping to find their root causes.
